thanks a mil louie for posting the invitation and flyer re Universal Grand Reunion for all GEI alumni to be held in our beloved town of La Paz, Tarlac on January 17,2009. By the looks of it , the effort of Batch 63 and 64 to hold this memorable event is well received by many and a lot gei graduates are excited about it. Hopefully, this will really catch on most readers of this website.

The 1st general meeting was held last October 21, 2007 at Gaby's residence in Macalong, some member from batch 66, 67, 76, 81, 85 were present, and the Batch 63 was a full force. mam Marina Gamurot and the president of the Alumni Dra. Aurora Baguinon wa also attended the meeting.

The agenda of the meeting was the goal and outline of scheduled of activities as follows;

Each Alumni of batch 63 will adopt a 2 batches, that they will guide and coordinate each batch activities and meeting.

I would like to thank Auntie Susie for the overwhelming introduction he gave to me for the group information.

Dear all

our universal reunion has been officially set afloat in the PHILIPPINES.. ,on oct 21.. acceptance by all attendees very positive..i have dr baguinon pres of gei alumni assc., marina gamurot vice principal of gei, some member of gei alumni assc. and 2 batches 81 and 75 and of course our own batch63..we have now schedule to rally graduates FROM 4 CORNERS OF THE PHILIPPINES,fliers and letter of invitation has been distributed and posted , we have 2survivor of the first graduates since 1946, of course they should be invited and honor during the reunion. the meeting help us give some solution to some problem..like each batch63 will adopt batches and from there batch63 leader will coordinate with the corresponding batch leader they have adopt..on how many attendees, decorations, etc..and of course main problem is how we can give a guaranteed help to our needy graduates in term of" FREE FOOD DURING THE EVENT".. , i suggest to solicit our vip graduates in the philippines..("ATTENTION GRADUATES ABROAD PLEASE HELP") which everybody agreed..
STREAMERS... are on the way printing" NOW"..rudy binuya and jose principe in charge and in a hurry to be seen and flying high by NOV 1st.., all saints day..(for a lot of balik lapaz and balikbayan ) are visible that day..
SOUVENIR ....talk and write about., by next meeting(nov 17) there will be available sample of the printed t shirt ..which will be our official attire during the motorcade..each will cost us between 150.00 to 200.00 pesos.(depend on the materials)..more souvenirs will be available during the event..
FLOAT.. each batch should have their own float with batch number for the purpose of easy flow of the motorcade( graduates can be easily guided by joining classmate thru float number) and muse...best float will be selected...being sponsor batch63 will be the first float on the motorcade ..and excluded from the contest...
RAFFLE...ticket for abroad will be $5.00 and for philippines P20.00..ist prize will be sponsor by batch63.(which they suggest computer)second prize ref and third prize tv..and some consolation prizes..ATTENTION GRADUATES ANY DONATION FOR THE PRICES WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED..everybody will help sell the raffle tickets...
GUEST SPEAKER...dr baguinon in charge on how we can have an appoinment with senator MIRIAM DEFENSOR..(in as much as her husband is a gei graduates) let's cross our finger that we can have the senator as our guest speaker...
VIGAN ILOCOS SUR...it will be overnite stay (beach) sponsor by batch63..free food and lodging..participants should bring their own transportation..limited for 200 only.will official announce after we have reservation at the said resort (optional) some suggested picnic (still looking for a place)..

Subject: 2009 universal reunion philippine update

dear everybody,
HELLOO EVERYBODY !!!!!! on nov 17, we have the first meeting with different batches, so far there are 26 batches attended the meeting.. from 1949 to the latest...it's now final and guaranteed that 2009 universal reunion will be on january 17 and will be held at lapaz town plaza..
we have change some schedule..like the VIGAN ILOCOS SUR. .instead it will be a picnic at the farm at OCHINANG FAMILY in lapaz..the following day and potluck,
MASS ..at lapaz cathedral 6to7am and registered as we inter the church.so i suggest to come 15 to 20mins earlier to give time to registered.
Then followed by MOTORCADE and the route will be the main road of lapaz going to as far as lomboy, laungcupang and comillas..WE HAVE FINAL THE LOGO OF THE T SHIRT AND PRICE 200 PESOS EACH..
After motorcade we have LUNCH..then followed by PROGRAM and RAFFLE on the side..each batch leader agreed to have 10booklet of raffle ticket, price same as what my email update last oct 25 philippines 20 pesos each and abroad 5dollars each
7 STREAMERS are now up and flying high at four corners of lapaz..AND STILL PLANNING TO HAVE MORE HANGING TO SOME BARANGAY
we're on our first step of confirmation on our guest speaker MIRIAM DEFENSOR SANTIAGO ..
So far we have organized the 26 batches that includes the mayor of lapaz JOHNSON MANUEL who promised to donate some litson and also suggest to help on the orchestra , he did'nt promised but look positive..also donation of litson from arthur ignacio (3litson) and have more philanthropies like rafael santos , retired general victor ronguillo, and sol flores ..henry castaneda pledge for monetary donation same with fred pascual whom i talk to on all saints day..
It was agreed upon thru the leadership of yours truly, marina gamurot and dr. aurora baguinon will begin going around to rally all graduates and same time solicit beginning dec 17, after the next meeting on dec 15..
meeting was very successful attendees respond very positive..and we are expecting more graduates to come next meeting dec 15...and everybody is working hard to make this ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT A SUCCESSFUL ONE"

so far that was the update of our meeting on jan 17 which was held at great eastern institute..refreshment was serve by batch63..forgot to mention , one of the attendees was one among the best teacher of our generation, mrs dorothy martinez who belong to batch 1949..and according to her there are only two of them alive and the other,whose is also a teacher, mrs florinda gamurot..till my next update.... REUNITE, RECONNECT AND REMINISCE

December 15, 2007 meeting

dear everybody,
how's everybody? before i detailed the update, allow me to thanks the following philanthrophists, whom their generosity was much appreciated, most w from the organizing group, they volunteer to donate for a good cause to this" once in a lifetime event".. they are: elsa ramos wilt..she pledge $1,000.00cash to be the grand prize for the raffle, plus (hold your breath) 4lechon, marlyn paguio she pledge refrigerator which is the second prize for the raffle, plus $200.00 cash..emelina ronguillo iglesia pledge 15,000.00 pesos..senen akalin pledge signature cosmetics like: estee lauder,elizabeth arden,chloe,elizabeth taylor diamonds etc..which will be consolation prize for the raffle..and arthur ignacio 3lechon, let's us give them all a standing ovation!!!!!!!!
update:meeting was held at gei, on dec 15,at 2pm, few attend the meeting, time is limited, most attendees are rushing to leave the place , cause of some holiday commitment...
1) t shirt and raffle ticket has been final and available by december 29,cause of gei graduates demand , the committee on souvenir decide to sell t shirt ahead of the reunion, Dr. Baguinon suggest that the committee on solicitation should wear the t shirt so we can advertize t shirt while soliciting..
2) raffle ticket....as previously announce ticket cost will be 20pesos and 5dollars , sorry and sad to say that we change from 20 to 40 pesos and from 5dollars to 10 dollars..hope everybody understand..just like the t shirt, raffle ticket will be available on dec 29..just right in time for balikbayans from all over the universe..
3) invitation..will begin after holiday..going around lapaz town to rally gei graduates and solicit on the side, it will be full blast by jan6..right after next meeting(jan 5,2008) with all gei graduates includes some balikbayans..
4) motorcade...we expect more than hundreds to almost a thousands attendees, so the president of batch63 ben ronguillo, suggest that motorcade will be divide into two groups...so we call it salubong... coming from east to west and from north to south will meet in caramutan..
5) floats.....each batch will have their own float..and will be responsible on their float decorations.includes muse, there will be a contest for the best float, as announce earlier..
meeting lasted for an hour and a half , everybody is rushing to leave the place to attend christmas party..so not really much was final except for those mention above.... I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT 12 MONTHS AND 28DAYS LEFT .. SO LETS PREPARE AND PLAN OUR SCHEDULE COMING HOME TO LAPAZ, before jan 17,2009 MOST THE GRADUATES ABROAD..JOIN US,HAVE FUN WITH US,AND ENJOY WITH US..ON THIS "ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT OF EXPERIENCES AND SENSATION.." REMINISCE,RECONNECT, REUNITE WITH HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE..

2009 universal reunion philippines update
January 05, 2008 meeting

dear all,
how's everybody? did you have fun and enjoy your holiday season..so back to reality and most back to work after a week and for others 2weeks holiday vacation...
time to report for my duty...we have meeting on jan 5.same place great eastern institute..this time we have an outstanding attendance..by different batches..one significant attendees is arthur ignacio who confirmed 5lechon instead of 3lechon..
different committees has been organized..and was accepted positive by each committee leader..each leader for each committees will report at least every two weeks to chairman assigned for each committees..then finally each chairman will report as what development has been done ,during the general meeting with the overall and co chairman...
the following has been final during the jan5 meeting:
1) T shirts, which will be the official attire during the motorcade... are now available.and ready for market..those who would like to buy they're 200 pesos each only..my advice better buy "NOW" than later, for those gei graduates abroad, you can just send me an email as to how many t shirts you need,so we can reserve for you, no pressure and stress when you arrive on jan2009.
2) Solicitation..committee on solicitation and finance was out in the filed last week end (friday,saturday,sunday) wearing the t shirts..we were able to target 2birds in one stone..solicit and same time advertised the t shirt.lots of pledges, will disclosed to the public as we have the cash on hand..
3)Raffle is on the process of printing, target release will be january 16, there are 5major prices..grand price $1,000.00 cash, ist price computer with printer, second price refrigerator, third price tv,fourth price washing machine, fifth price stove 2gas burner and hundreds consolation prices,
we need more donors for the third,fourth and fifth price..and consolation prizes we also accept cash donation with receipt , that can be a tax write off..
4) Program..we will limit the program for an hour ,begin program , right after dinner.
5) Gala Night... the 3parts of the gala night are dinner,program and ball room dancing..sound will be orchestra..
6) Attire..each batch will decide on their attire
7) Muse..it's a must that each batch will have a muse..
Subject to final:
1) Recognition..talks still going on as to who will be given the plague of recognition and appreciation..(like donors,oldest living graduates,etc,etc)
2) Motorcade..planning still going with the help of cabalikat civiccom through the leadership of the president severo gamurot who's a gei garduates including members..they will help maintain order and security on the motorcade..
3) Picnic...committee on solicitation and finance try to final the venue,unfortunately the owner (ochinang family) not available for the day..
4)Souvenirs... batch63 in charge of the souvenir booth..still on the process of planning as to what souvenirs to be sold..
5) Souvenir Book..decision will be from majority of the graduates, to publish a year book ..
6) Fireworks..subject to the availability of the funds..decision will be final by finance committee..
so far these are the accomplishment of jan 5 meeting, next meeting will be feb9,2008..
ALL I NEED FROM EVERYBODY IS, BE MY COMPANION AND HOLD MY HAND, " FOCUS" AND "KEEP THE MOMENTUM" AND I CAN GUARANTEE EVERYBODY, THAT THIS" ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT" WILL BE A SUCCESS ONE..
